My Bible reading has recently taken me through the lives of Esther, Joseph, and Moses. God blessed all three of them by taking them from ordinary life into power and wealth in palaces. Why did God give them so much? Esther’s adoptive father Mordecai asks her, “… who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14, ESV). Joseph, living in a different time and place, tells his brothers the answer. “God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive.” (Genesis 50:20, ESV).
The blessing was not for them, but to save thousands of others. You and I haven’t been given royal positions, but we have been blessed and prepared by God, for such a time as this.
Let’s pray. God, you have given each of us salvation in Jesus, financial blessing, and lives uniquely prepared to promote life and reveal your son, Jesus. Remind us of this daily and give us the courage and faith you gave Esther, Joseph, and Moses. Amen.
