I remember a song from my childhood that says, “This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made. We shall be glad, we shall be glad, and rejoice in it.” I wonder how many Sunday schools and homes still sing that song—I hope you know it. It comes from Psalm 118, which is rich with prayers of thanksgiving and hope in the Lord, and verse 24 jumped out at me because I learned this simple children’s song, so many years ago.
Let’s interrupt our day and use the selected verses below from Psalm 118 (ESV) as a prayer for yourself and as a prayer for the PrayMore team.
4 Let those who fear the Lord say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”
5 Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free.
21 I thank you that you have answered me
and have become my salvation.
22 The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
23 This is the Lord’s doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save us, we pray, O Lord!
O Lord, we pray, give us success!
