The Incredible Inclusivity of Prayer
It sure feels great to be invited and included, doesn’t it? It doesn’t even really matter what it is—a football watch party, a game night, a wedding, or to sit and talk around the firepit. Our culture has picked up on this, and we hear a lot about inclusivity. Social media promises the ability for everyone to have access and be included. You can send a direct message to just about anyone.
But we are as lonely as ever. Many of us don’t feel included and don’t feel we deserve to be included. Maybe you feel the same way. You could reach out to people, but would anyone reach back to you in love? And yet most days we waste the most incredible invitation to talk to someone we will ever have.
Imagine if you could “direct message” the most powerful, loving, wise, important person alive. Imagine that he personally received every message and replied. Not only that, imagine if that was just how a relationship with him began, because he wanted to know you deeply and be closer to you than anyone else in your life, forever.
But you don’t have to imagine. You are invited. You are included. That is the incredible inclusivity of prayer. It’s true.
- The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. (Psalm 145:18, ESV)
- Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:12-13)
- For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
God didn’t design prayer to be a way to impress him or earn his favor. Jesus said, “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.” (Matthew 6:7)
God designed prayer as the means for any human to speak directly with their Creator, Savior, and friend. PrayMore exists to reach the world with this truth: God is listening right now and anyone can call out to him—today, every day, any time. Please pray with us that many would hear this really good news (gospel) and be transformed. Thank you for praying like lives depend on it, because they do.
