Proverb About Working Smarter

PM4PM Working Smarter-1

I love how practical this proverb is, found in Ecclesiastes 10:10.

“If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge, he must use more strength, but wisdom helps one to succeed.” (ESV)

I read that and think, “Yep, that’s pretty obvious.” And then memories come flooding back of all the times I’ve tried to cut tomatoes with dull knives, trim branches with a dull chainsaw, and mow my lawn just one more time without sharpening the blades. I’m obviously not too sharp!

Inevitably, this leads to frustration and poor results. All because I lacked the wisdom to work smarter, not harder. Life doesn’t have to be this way. God promises, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (James 1:5, ESV)

How sad to end a day’s work (or a lifetime) frustrated and failing because we did not ask God (and others) for wisdom. So, please pray that God will generously give every member of the PrayMore team wisdom this week!
