We don't serve a God of scarcity. "Behold, to the LORD your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it." (Deuteronomy 10:14, ESV)
But we do have limited resources, and God wants us to plan. Proverbs speaks extensively on planning, including this great verse. "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." (Proverbs 16:3) Notice that in order for God to establish your plans—you must first make the plans!
However, making plans is not enough, we must also commit our work to the Lord, because "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." (Proverbs 16:9, ESV)
So that is exactly what I'm doing right now. Our team meets tomorrow for our quarterly planning retreat. I was just smiling to myself, thinking that I'd rather have a planning retreat than make an unplanned retreat! Please join me in committing our PrayMore work to the Lord.
God of all wisdom, please give us wisdom to know what to focus on these next three months. Give our team clarity, unity, and excitement. Help us to live within the time and resources you have given to us, so that we don't burn ourselves out. But also remind us that the earth and all that is in it belongs to you and give us faith to move the mountains you want to move. Establish our plans, we pray. Amen.
