Jesus is Always Thrilled

Some days feel pretty bleak, right? I wrote about one part of that last week. But while my feelings and yours are important, I asked myself an even more important question on Sunday. “God, how do you feel this is all going?”

Scripture tells us that God is not an aloof or emotionless being. Quite the opposite! While God laments those who reject him, the Bible tells us he is thrilled with how his big plan is unfolding, he’s thrilled to be with us each day, and he’s thrilled to show each of us the place he’s prepared for us, if we seek and follow Jesus. That is so important for us to remember.

So let’s pray:

• Lord God, we are so thankful you are in our midst and you save us. We marvel that you rejoice over us with gladness—like a bridegroom rejoices over the bride; you quiet us by your love, and will exult over us with loud singing! You endured the cross, looking ahead to the joy of being our brother and one day welcoming each of us to the home you are preparing for us. (Zephaniah 3:17, Isaiah 62:5, John 14:3, Hebrews 12:2)
• Help us not to be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is our strength! (Nehemiah 8:10b)
