This week I encountered the Prayer Paradox—does prayer drain or delight? On the one hand, prayer...
How Do You Use This Thing?
We know from 2 Corinthians 9:3 that as Christians, "we are human, but we don't wage war as humans do." Because "we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places," as we read in Ephesians 6:12 (NLT). Some of our enemy's goals include an unceasing attempt to devour, destroy; kill; blind people from the truth; and keep them from coming to God (1 Peter 5:8, Job 2:3, John 8:44, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Galatians 4:8).
So, what does that make the PrayMore team?
In September of 2021, I explained it like this to our team. "We are a small, huddled band of specially trained forces, surrounded by darkness. So we must stick together and leverage a weakness in the enemy that we have been prepared to exploit—biblical prayer.
John Piper has compared prayer to a walkie-talkie being used to call upon the general for close-air support and search and rescue. "To leave off prayer amid a battle is like going dark in the middle of a war; this is utter folly." But many of us are doing exactly that, or asking, "How do you use this thing?" So, our PrayMore task force is running around switching on devices and helping Christians "pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." (Ephesians 6:18).
You are holding the "walkie-talkie" right now, so please ask God for his help. He is our only hope, and he is listening and ready!
