Being Small in Big Hands

PM4PM Being Small in Big Hands

Last week was a special week. My wife and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary with a road trip to New Mexico, to participate in a special getaway with the FamilyLife ministry. Over breakfast I asked one of their leaders what his biggest prayer request was right now. My paraphrase (which I promptly entered into my PrayMore Journal, of course) is this, “Pray for all of the staff, me included, to accept that we are not the main character in the story.”

What a great truth—Jesus is the only protagonist, our only and perfect hero! So much peace is available to us when we can live with being small but significant, held every moment in God’s big hands. It’s exhausting to try to be the hero! But “it is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.” (Ecclesiastes 5:18, NLT) I feel like a little pebble or a single leaf in this expansive New Mexico landscape—and it feels good.

Thank you for praying with us this week:

  • Jesus, help us keep you as the only hero in our stories.
  • Lord, grant us peace and passion for the little part we play in your story.
  • Please help the PrayMore team as they finish coding the new version of the mobile apps and web app this week and begin testing.
  • We also ask that you’d help the onboarding team as they help churches launch PrayMore.
  • Please build the right partnerships as Nate reaches out to key ministries, publishers, and authors.

(As a fun bonus for praying for us, you can click here to listen to a song from our anniversary road trip. I wrote the words and AI helped me with the music.)
